ScanFlash ("we", "our", or "the app") is a document scanning application developed by Reserved Technologies. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Scanned Documents: Images and text extracted from documents you scan or import. All document data is stored locally on your device by default.
- Subscription Information: If you subscribe to ScanFlash Pro, payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not collect or store your payment details.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Anonymous Identifier: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous ID to your device — no email, name, or account is required. This ID is used solely to validate your subscription status and track feature usage limits.
- Usage Data (Pro users only): If you use Pro features (AI summaries, cloud OCR, translation, document conversion), we track the number of uses per month per feature to enforce subscription limits. This data is associated with your anonymous ID, not your identity.
- Advertising Data (free users only): We use Google AdMob to display ads to free users. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data for ad personalization.
- Crash Reports: We may collect anonymous crash reports to improve app stability. These contain no personal information.
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personally identifiable information.
- We do not require account creation or login.
- We do not access your contacts, location, microphone, or any data beyond what is explicitly described in this policy.
- We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information

3. Pro Features & Server Processing
When you use ScanFlash Pro features, document text is sent to our secure server (hosted on Supabase, US region) for processing:
- AI Summaries: Document text is sent to OpenAI (GPT-4o-mini) to generate summaries. OpenAI does not use this data for training.
- Cloud OCR: Document images are sent to Google Cloud Vision for advanced text recognition.
- Translation: Document text is sent to Google Cloud Translation.
- Document Conversion: Documents are sent to CloudConvert for format conversion (PDF↔Office). Files are automatically deleted after conversion.
Important: We do not store your document content on our servers beyond the time needed to process your request. Only AI-generated summaries and search embeddings are stored (associated with your anonymous ID) to enable semantic search.
4. Data Storage & Security
- Local data: All documents, images, and PDFs are stored on your device using encrypted SQLite. Data is protected by your device's security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID).
- Server data: Subscription cache, usage counts, and AI-generated summaries are stored on Supabase (PostgreSQL) with Row Level Security enabled. All communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- No cloud backup of documents: We do not upload your documents to the cloud. Documents remain on your device unless you explicitly use a Pro feature that requires server processing.

6. Children's Privacy
ScanFlash is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your Rights
- Delete your data: Uninstall the app to delete all local data. For server-side data (usage counts, AI summaries), contact us and we will delete all data associated with your anonymous ID.
- Opt out of personalized ads: Adjust your device's ad tracking settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads).
- Cancel subscription: Manage your subscription through Apple App Store or Google Play Store settings.
8. Data Retention
- Local data: Retained until you delete the document or uninstall the app.
- Server data (Pro): Usage counts reset monthly. AI summaries are retained while your subscription is active. Upon cancellation, server data is retained for 90 days then automatically deleted.
- Ad data: Managed by Google AdMob per their retention policies.
9. Auto-Renewable Subscriptions
ScanFlash Pro is an auto-renewable subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account upon confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel your subscriptions in the account settings of your respective app store.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and on our website. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
